Principal's Message Nov. 6-10 | Book Fair, Conferences, Kindness, Tuscany Tree
Dear Parents/Guardians;
I am so excited to be at École Tuscany School! It is my first day today and I have met many staff and some of your children. I look forward to meeting you all in the coming months. I hope to see many of you at our next School Council meeting on November 16.
Scholastic Book Fair
The Book Fair is coming to École Tuscany School from November 21-28. During Conferences, please visit Mrs. Mansey in the learning commons and enjoy browsing through a selection of English and French children’s books. More information will come home to you soon from your child’s teacher.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Starting on November 16 at 7:00am conference bookings will be open for parents to make appointments to see their child’s teacher, using their MyCBE account. Conferences will be held on Thursday, November 23 from 4:00pm-7:30pm and on Friday, November 24 from 8:00am-12:00pm. On Friday, there will be no school for students.
Traffic Safety Contest #2 - Cluster Crossing
A new safety colouring sheet from our incredibly supportive School Council will come home to you today. This month’s sheet emphasizes safe street crossing and we hope you will talk at home with your child about crossing the street safely and how to use “Cluster Crossing”. Once families have reviewed at home and children have coloured the sheet, they can return it to their teacher or the office, up until November 22, to be entered in the contest. Thank you for choosing safety over convenience.
Make Kindness the Norm: Information From Alberta Health Services
World Kindness Day is Monday, November 13, which occurs over the Fall Break. The purpose of this day is to highlight good deeds in the community and focus on the positive power of kindness. Just by helping one person, one small action can change the trajectory of someone's entire day, week, month or year. Here are some simple activities you can do as a family, or on your own, to celebrate World Kindness Day.
- LEARN- about the science of kindness
- READ - a book about kindness
- LISTEN - to a podcast or video about kindness
- DO - a random act of kindness
- While it is vital and rewarding to make a difference in the lives of others, we cannot pour from an empty cup. Be kind to yourself, be sure to take time to rest and invest in your own care as well.
Light Up the Tuscany Tree
On Saturday, November 25, the Tuscany Community Coalition (TCC) is putting on a "Light up the Tree" event. The tree is located just behind St. Basil School. This incredible tree has kindly been decorated for the last few years by surrounding neighbours. This year the TCC is helping to officially Light up the Tree. TCC has organized Hot Chocolate and baking treats to hand out to families, as well as music, and a very special appearance! More info and details will be shared on the School Council social media account very soon.
