Principal's Weekly Message October 2-6

Greetings École Tuscany School Community!

Autumn is upon us and we feel grateful we are still able to enjoy some warm weather. Our teachers and students continue to utilize the outdoor classroom and learning spaces as well as the Coulee. Staff and students go outdoors for lunch hour recess and often enjoy daily physical activity outdoors as well, so we request that you ensure your child is dressed in layers as mornings can be cool and the afternoons can turn out to be quite warm.

Please take a moment to check the “Lost and Found” area located outside the office, in case your child has misplaced an item. There are a number of “found” coats, sweaters and hoodies, which arrived during the month of September. We are hoping to reunite them with their rightful owners!

Last week on Tuesday and Wednesday, students had their individual school photos taken. Please watch for photo proofs to come home to you in the coming weeks. If your child missed their photo day last week, we have a Photo Retake Day scheduled for October 18.

Last week, on Thursday morning, we recognized Orange Shirt Day through two powerful assemblies. We took time to honour Indigenous children in Canada who were sent away to residential schools. This day and our work around its meaning demonstrate our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation through education.

We also took the opportunity last Thursday afternoon to say farewell to M. Tomczyk. The children wished him well on his next exciting journey by singing a special song to him and giving him cards they had made. We wish him all the best at his new school.

School Council News & Updates

Our School Council is vital in contributing to enriched experiences for your children. Participating in School Council is a great way to get involved and stay up-to-date on happenings around the school. Our second School Council meeting will be a hybrid format on October 12 at 6:30 p.m. New and returning parents/guardians are always invited to attend.

So many exciting things happen because of our incredible School Council. Watch for emails about our first Fun Lunch and Kinder Snack coming up on October 19. We will require volunteers for these fun events. Please email Maureen at tuscanyfunlunch@gmail.com if you have any questions.

The Tuscany Enhancement Society is sponsoring the Annual Halloween Dance coming up on Thursday, October 26 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. This is a very popular and fun Family Event. Children must be accompanied by an adult, at all times, at the dance. Due to fire regulations and gym capacity, TSES can provide only a limited number of tickets, on a first come, first-served basis.
